Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player claimed his initial trophy for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The Russian, a former number one, has had a torrid year, managing just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in specific - caused him exiting of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-term coach his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt after that period of that year.

The win also means he has secured 21 titles at 21 various competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters together, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in Halle in the past months.

The player's retrieving strategy and regular reactions on the playing surface had prompted some to doubt if his capacity to perform at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the player has altered his approach in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an improved serve.

He fought back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five points to go ahead.

Both players traded breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, took control to push for a decider.

Moutet saved four initial opportunities in a close third set before the champion secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, he clinched the win with a shot at the net, with his opponent unable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
